Today we visited Lone Pine, the largest koala sanctuary in the world. The sanctuary also has kangaroos, parrots, Tasmanian devil, dingos, and snakes. Lone Pine has 125 koalas, one of them was Sarah, she died in 2001. She was 23 years old, the oldest koala in captivity. Koalas eat so much Lone Pine has to have a eucalyptus tree farm to feed them. Here are some pictures.

Great pictures Emil! The snake is a Boa Constrictor right? Well, correct me if I'm wrong. Ana says the koalas are really cute. You were lucky to be able to go that close to a kangaroo. Hope you had fun!

Correction. I think I found it online. It looks like the snake in the picture is a Woma Python.

That sounds right
DeleteGreat pictures! Are the koalas friendly? Do they make any kinds of noises? I always wondered that... Love, Theia Noël
ReplyDeletePersonally, I love koalas. I think they are very cute and cuddly. Do you guys .. and galls like snakes? Most people don't!
ReplyDeleteCould not figure out what the animal in the 4th picture is. Could you let me know? It did not seem to be very friendly.
Have you had kangaroo meat yet?
Love, Pappou.
It is a Tasmanian devil
ReplyDeleteDid you know that one of the characters in the Bugs Bunny cartoons was created after that Tasmanian devil? He's very funny... and gives Bugs Bunny a very hard time. :)
